Privacy Policy & Data Transparency
Apple App Store Compliance & User Transparency
Data Controller and Operating Structure
The processing of personal data gathered via Aprony is independently owned, managed, and executed exclusively by the Aprony Founding Developer Team ("Founding Team", "We", or "Us"), acting as the Data Controller.
The individual or legal entity under whose distribution account the application is published or distributed on third-party stores such as the Apple App Store ("Publisher") serves purely as an administrative distribution channel. The Publisher does not access, collect, store, process, or monetize personal data of Aprony users, and is completely, expressly, and permanently released from any data governance, cybersecurity, or regulatory liabilities. All data custody and operational obligations reside strictly with the Founding Team.
Age Eligibility and Children's Privacy (COPPA / GDPR)
Aprony does not knowingly collect or solicit personal information from children under thirteen (13) years of age. If we learn that an individual under the age of 13 (or the applicable statutory age in their jurisdiction) has registered or provided personal data without verified parental consent, we will promptly delete such account and purge all associated records from our cloud databases.
Legal Bases for Processing
We process personal data in full compliance with international privacy laws (including the EU GDPR and California's CCPA/CPRA) under the following legal frameworks:
- Contractual Necessity: To set up your account, handle authentication, and deliver core application services.
- Explicit Consent: To process the ingredient photographs and culinary inputs you deliberately upload through the camera or photo picker.
- Legitimate Interests: To collect anonymized crash telemetry and diagnostic diagnostics, ensuring platform stability and bug remediation.
Infrastructure and Data Backup (Google Firebase)
To be 100% transparent: We DO NOT host your data on our own servers. All user data, including credentials, recipe photos, profiles, and texts, is backed up, processed, and stored on Google Firebase's cloud infrastructure. Specifically, we use:
- Firebase Authentication: To securely manage your logins.
- Firebase Firestore: As the primary database to save your recipes and preferences.
- Firebase Storage: To store the images you upload to the platform.
- Firebase Crashlytics & Analytics: To record if the application crashes or closes unexpectedly, which helps us fix bugs. We collect usage and diagnostic data anonymously for this purpose.
Cloud-Based AI Image Processing and Cross-Border Transfers
When you take a photo of your ingredients or refrigerator, you should know that this image is NOT processed locally on your device. The image is securely encrypted and routed over the internet to Google's servers (Cloud Vision API / Vertex AI) so the Artificial Intelligence can visually detect items.
Given that Google operates an internationally distributed cloud network (principally based in the United States), cross-border data transfers are handled through recognized compliance mechanisms, such as Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) and valid international transfer adequacy frameworks. Images uploaded strictly for temporary scanning are processed transiently; only images you intentionally publish to your profile or saved cookbook are stored persistently on Firebase Storage.
Third Parties and Data Sales
We categorically guarantee that we DO NOT sell your personal data to third parties, advertisers, or data brokers. We share technical information exclusively with our cloud infrastructure providers (Google) to keep the app operational. Furthermore, we do not use your personal photos or recipes to train third-party foundational artificial intelligence models.
Right to Erasure, Data Rights, and Account Deletion
Users may exercise their rights of access, rectification, objection, and erasure at any time. You can request the complete and immediate deletion of your account by going to "Settings" > "Privacy" > "Delete Account" directly inside the app. Upon confirmation, all user identifiers, saved recipes, and associated records will be permanently and irreversibly purged from Firebase active databases. You may also contact our support team directly to request manual deletion.
Privacy Facts (App Privacy Labels)
User-Linked Data Matrix (App Store Connect):
The following data points are linked to the user's identity to ensure service delivery:
- User Content: Photos/Videos (recipe uploads and scanning); Text Data (ingredient lists, preparation steps, feedback).
- Identifiers: User ID (assigned via Firebase Authentication; also used for our community strike and moderation system).
- Usage and Diagnostics: Anonymized crash logs (Crashlytics) and essential feature interaction telemetry.
Informative and Technical Transparency FAQ
Is my data secure on Aprony?
Yes, we entrust our infrastructure entirely to Google Firebase, meaning your data is protected by Google's enterprise-grade security standards. We do not store passwords in plain text or manage our own physical servers.
Why does the app need the internet to recognize my food?
Because AI processing requires very powerful computers (Vertex AI cloud servers) that do not fit in a mobile phone. Photos are sent to the cloud, analyzed in seconds, and the result returns to your phone.
How does the AI identify ingredients and assess food condition?
The AI matches visual markers (shapes, common packaging, colors) to classify ingredients and suggest recipes. Crucial Notice: The AI DOES NOT inspect, verify, or guarantee freshness, absence of spoilage, expiration dates, or microbiological safety. If an item smells off, feels unusual, or appears spoiled, discard it immediately regardless of any app recommendations.
Why do I have a daily limit for AI recipes?
Every time we generate a recipe, we incur processing costs on Google's servers. To keep the service stable and free, there is a daily limit of 5 AI recipes.
